What is Web 2.0?
In the beginning, most average Internet users sought out the World Wide Web with a single purpose in mind: to gather information. However within the last 10 years, users have sought out the Internet with more complex goals in mind. People now wish to create and share! The term Web 2.0 references this shift in user goals. It is all about what a user can make and how users can collaborate online to achieve a product or goal.
There are literally millions of Web 2.0 tools that allow users to generate content in an infinitesimal amount of ways. In our classroom, we do not learn these tools just because it is fun to learn new 'techie' things. We specifically choose Web 2.0 tools that will allow us to learn in a more efficient, comprehensive way than before. In short, we choose what we want to learn and then use the technology to help us reach our academic goals!
